MY APPROACH

Meet Me

I am a BACP qualified counsellor offering a calm, compassionate and professional space for adults seeking support with emotional and psychological challenges. I work with clients aged 18 and over and offers counselling face-to-face in Cookridge & Headingley, as well as online and telephone sessions.

In my previous career, I was an HR practitioner and early careers advisor for 20 plus years, in banks and then small to medium-sized businesses before becoming a full-time counsellor.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (“BACP”) and I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

My Approach

I believe that counselling works best when you feel safe, heard and respected. I offer a warm, non-judgemental environment to help you develop greater understanding, clarity and choice around what is happening for you.

Counselling is a collaborative process. During your introductory call, you will have the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to work on.

I work at a pace that feels manageable and supportive for you and will work collaboratively with you. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready, and you do not need to have the right words. Together, you will explore thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that feels safe and contained.

Professional Standards and Confidentiality

I am committed to practising ethically and safely. I attend regular clinical supervision to ensure I am working effectively and in line with professional standards. Client anonymity is always maintained.

Confidentiality is a central part of counselling. What you share is treated with respect and discretion, except in rare circumstances where there is a concern about serious risk or where disclosure is required by law. These limits to confidentiality will always be discussed with you.

I also work in line with data protection regulations and takes care to store client information securely.
